My daughter has been in love with How to Train your Dragon since the movie first came out. I believe we took her a couple times to see it and then bought it on DVD. Sadly at some point the DVD was mistreated and has a large crack in it. It has been sometime since she got to see the actual movie… we really need to get her a new one.
Recently my husband found out the How to Train Your Dragon Live Spectacular was in our area so we purchased tickets and got lucky, they were leaving the next day after we got our tickets. Closest place to us after they left was 8 hours away! So we decided the hour drive was not so bad. So we packed up with an excited little girl in the car and headed to see it. We went to the 3PM show, we figured then it would not be to late for her and we could get dinner after. We ended up running late, which is a staple of my family. I wanted to be an hour early, we were 30 minutes. We had enough time to find our seats and my husband set off to get our water and popcorn. My daughter was terrified he would not make it back in time, and the place was super packed. He ended up coming back with the popcorn, water, and a toothless hat! My daughter was so very excited! She wore her hat through the whole show and then days after even.
The show started about 5 minutes behind schedule, which worked out perfect for those still at the concession stand because of the crowd. When it started my daughter was on the edge of her seat, even my husband and I were. The lights were amazing and the acting was great. Though for someone like my daughter… she just wanted the dragons, and they did NOT disappoint. The story followed closely to that of the movie and even had one of my favorite characters from the books mentioned in it, briefly… but mentioned!
It really kept us entertained, even my daughter who a lot of the time is hard to keep in something unless it is… “AWESOME”. So I can honestly say How to Train Your Dragon Live Spectacular was indeed awesome. The dragons were so realistic and the whole show was well put together. There were some technical difficulties during our showing, but it did not take away from the show at all. I think the cast and crew did a wonderful job making sure that no one walked out of their disappointed.
On our way out we ended up buying her a stuffed dragon, we got one of their programs, and I got a shirt. There were so many things there it was hard to pick what we wanted to get, but we had time to kill before trying to get out of the parking lot and knew we did not want to walk away from a show like that empty handed!
I would recommend everyone going to see it, and when it comes in again we are planning on getting tickets.
